Wunderlich Engine Bars
Available in Black or Chrome
Our first engine bars made of 32 mm tubing! We decided on this dimension for two reasons: for strength, to optimally protect the R 18, and for aesthetic reasons. Because only the 32 mm tubing looks balanced and aesthetic on the imposing R 18B - and in the surroundings of the mighty manifold tubes. In addition, we deliberately decided on a closed, one-piece shape for the protective bar, which contributes additional constructive rigidity apart from its dimensions. In this way, the high-quality protection bar blends discreetly into the overall style of the R 18 and yet sets a coordinated accent. It is no coincidence that the spade-shaped design is reminiscent of the guards on the classic air-cooled BMW boxers.
The engine protection bar is supported at six selected points. The lower braces are hinged to the frame and offer an elegant yet low-profile look. The multi-point mounting ensures that the forces introduced during a crash or fall-over do not occur and act at a single point but are absorbed via the protective bar over all 6 mounting points. This significantly reduces the point load caused by force or torque peaks.
